Kuomboka

Kuomboka is a renowned traditional ceremony of the Lozi people of Western Zambia. The term 'Kuomboka' means 'to get out of water' in the Lozi language, and it marks the annual movement of the Lozi King, known as the Litunga, from his flooded palace in Lealui in the Barotse Floodplain to higher ground in Limulunga.

• Royal Barge Procession: The Litunga travels in a grand ceremonial barge called the Nalikwanda, accompanied by traditional music and paddlers in traditional attire.
• Cultural Displays: Traditional dances, songs, and performances showcasing Lozi heritage.
• Colorful Attire: Participants and spectators wear vibrant traditional costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Visitors can witness the barge procession, enjoy traditional performances, interact with local communities, and experience Lozi culture firsthand. The event usually takes place at the end of the rainy season, around March or April.
